Vivo Program Offerings
At ViVO Youth Orchestras, music is more than notes on a page — it’s a way for young people to discover themselves, connect with others, and find joy in shared creativity. Our programs guide students from their very first sounds to advanced ensemble performance, nurturing musicianship, confidence, and a lasting sense of belonging. Every ViVO ensemble is built on the same foundation: community, joy, and self-expression through music.
Pre-Orchestra
(Grades K–1)
Pre-Orchestra welcomes our youngest students into the world of music with imagination and play. Children explore rhythm, melody, and ensemble skills through movement, song, and hands-on discovery. The emphasis is on listening, teamwork, and the joy of making music together — planting the seeds of curiosity and connection.
Focus: Foundational musicianship, rhythm, listening, and collaboration in a joyful setting.
ViVO Winds
ViVO Winds builds upon foundational skills, guiding young wind players toward expressive, confident musicianship. Students take on more challenging repertoire, develop independence, and experience the satisfaction of contributing their unique sound to a larger, harmonious group.
Focus: Intermediate ensemble playing, phrasing, leadership, and expressive performance.
Private Lessons Program
Our Private Lessons Program provides individualized attention and mentorship for students seeking to deepen their skills and self-expression. One-on-one instruction complements ensemble learning, helping each student build confidence, artistry, and a personal connection to their instrument.
Focus: Technical mastery, personal growth, and expressive development.
Beginning Orchestra
(Grades 2–5)
Beginning Orchestra introduces students to violin, viola, cello, or double bass in a warm, encouraging environment. Students learn technique, tone, and reading skills while building confidence through ensemble performance. Together, they experience the pride of creating something beautiful as a group and the power of being part of a musical community.
Focus: Instrument technique, note reading, ensemble awareness, and shared achievement.
ViVO Sinfónica
Our flagship ensemble, ViVO Sinfónica, unites advanced string and wind students — typically with three to five years of experience — into a full symphonic orchestra. Here, young musicians refine their artistry while deepening their connection to one another and to the community they represent. Every rehearsal and performance becomes an act of shared expression, joy, and purpose.
Focus: Advanced musicianship, orchestral collaboration, and community engagement through music.
Summer Music Camp
Each summer, ViVO hosts a weeklong camp that brings students from all levels together in an atmosphere of creativity and fun. Campers explore new instruments, collaborate in ensembles, and create lasting friendships through music. The week culminates in a joyful performance that celebrates community, growth, and the boundless spirit of music.
Focus: Creativity, collaboration, joy, and community through summer music-making.
Beginning Winds
(Grades 2–5)
In Beginning Winds, students take their first steps on flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, or trombone. Group learning fosters a sense of belonging and joy as students master sound production, rhythm, and teamwork. Through collaboration, they learn that every voice — every sound — adds meaning to the collective whole.
Focus: Tone development, breath control, rhythm, and ensemble collaboration.
Percussion Ensemble
(Grades 2 and up)
The Percussion Ensemble celebrates rhythm as the heartbeat of community. Students explore drumming, mallet instruments, and world rhythms that invite creativity, listening, and connection. This dynamic group experience teaches coordination and timing — but even more, it teaches students how to move together as one.
Focus: Rhythm, coordination, collaboration, and joyful ensemble play.
